Training Centre
The Teachers Training Centre is a multi-layered green building incorporating nature and sustainability in its design. Each part was placed strategically to minimise the disturbance of the natural slopes. A mindfulness of future possibilities, adaptation & growth played a role in the development of structure and systems. One day the building might serve the community in other ways, such as a medical centre. Rooms can also be joined to create spaces for social and sports events.
"An overshadowing tree overlooks the entire site. Its presence triggered and reinforced the idea of education underneath a tree. As a result, various concepts were employed to create a building which connects with nature and the outdoors."
Seamless Connection
with nature
The roof systems were developed to support a five star green rating. Indoor spaces receive natural light from the south, while solar panels face north. The roof spaces are passively ventilated to maintain comfortable indoor climatic conditions. Additional considerations include water savings, photovoltaics, natural building materials and technologies, and rammed earth walls for thermal comfort.
